You know,

I honestly give my boyfriend a lot of credit. He’s ridiculously strong. I don’t only mean physically, but emotionally too. He’s brave. He has, has had, and I know will continue to have the courage, honor, and pride to get up in front of a body of people and speak about his unique best friend.

I didn’t know Robby when he was here. But I love the stories I’m told about him, and I really wish I could’ve met him personally. Though, because of the stories I hear and photos/videos I’ve seen, I feel like I do get to know him a little better as the stories keep coming. (And I seriously love that he read so much, it just makes me ridiculously happy for some reason. Maybe because it’s just nice to see other people so passionate about literature. I just love that he has read so many books and that they lined (and still continue to do so) the walls of his room.)

I’m sure he was a perfect best friend, an astounding son, a beloved brother, and just all around awesome to be with.

I don’t really have much else to say, except that, again, I give JJ so much credit and I’m so unendingly proud of him for being able to do what he does, and keeping the memory of his best friend alive.

Thought and language are to the artist instruments of an art.
Vice and virtue are to the artist materials for an art.

All art is at once surface and symbol.
Those who go beneath the surface do so at their peril.
Those who read the symbol do so at their peril.
It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors.

When critics disagree the artist is in accord with himself.

We can forgive a man for making a useful thing as long as he does not admire it. The only excuse for making a useless thing is that one admires it intensely.

All art is quite useless.
